Cocktail Hour

May 21, 2016

A new bar popped up in my favorite area in SF, the Mission! I’m sure you’ve all heard of why I love the Mission… Because of DOLO (Dolores Park for those of you who aren’t from here), Valencia Street shopping, but most of all the food. And lately I’ve found that the bar scene isn’t that bad either. I stopped by Laszlo for happy hour last Wednesday night and was not disappointed. It’s the sister bar to Foreign Cinema, a restaurant that is quite famous in the city but I have yet to try… Shhh, I know! And let me let you in on a little secret- Laszlo serves Foreign Cinema’s dinner if you ask for their menu! No more waiting having to make reservations months in advance. You’re welcome.

For this outing, I wore my favorite LDB as of late, a scalloped dress from Sheinside that easily took me from work to play. To make the look even more classy, I slipped on some peep-toe heels and put my messy hair in a bun.

It’s so so much fun exploring new places in the city! Are there any recommendations y’all have for after work cocktails?

Love,
Lauren

Morning Coffee + Clay

April 21, 2016

Last Saturday I did something that I have wanted to do for a long time… I went to my first pottery class! The class was put on through Verlocal, a social platform built to bring people with similar interests and hobbies together. They have a variety of events, everything from perfume making to cooking classes.

The class was held at a small art studio on Sutter Street, SMAart Gallery and Studio. It was an early morning and the sun was shining through the windows of the studio as I walked in. The gallery was filled with different artists’ work and the studio was in the back. After some light conversation over coffee and donuts, Jackie, our instructor, began demoing how to set up and center your clay. She made it look effortless, but when I tried to do the exact same thing myself, it was a disaster. This was my first time throwing clay or making pottery on a clay wheel, so I had no idea what I was doing… But I got better as I made more and more pieces. In the end, I made a cup and a bowl. I’ll have to show you all on my when they are all finished!

I’d have to say that I will definitely be trying pottery class again. It’s something that you have to try more than once to get good at, and I just love the look of handmade pottery- every piece turns out different.

I’ll definitely be taking another class with Verlocal as well. Next time I’m thinking of sharpening up my cooking skills?! Hope you all are having a fabulous day.

Love,
Lauren

SF Spring Celebration

April 18, 2016

This weekend was a doozy. From pottery class to chilling in Dolores Park to pigging out at Off the Grid to dinner with friends… this weekend I did it all. Needless to say, I need think I need a weekend from my weekend. But that’s just how I like my weekends, nice and busy. One of the highlights of my weekend was an SF Spring Celebration that my friends Tiffany of Modern Daydream Living and Jenna of Jenna Rose Colored Glasses hosted at Scotland Yard in the Marina. The day was hot, the food was delicious and the gift baskets blew me away. What a fun way to spend a gorgeous Sunday with friends!

Events like these are my favorite- ones put on by bloggers for bloggers. It’s essentially like getting brunch with 10 of your best girlfriends! A huge thanks to our sponsors:

Azil Boutique
Bare Minerals
Dermaplus Skin + Body
Esselle
Etta + Bittie
Iron Horse Wines
Papabubble Candy
Petit Pot
Orchard Supply Hardware
Scotland Yard
Sephora
Sift Dessert Bar
Sunnybrooke Candles

More detail to come on specific items from the cute gift baskets we received! Hope you all had a lovely weekend.

Love,
Lauren

Hog & Rocks Brunch

March 22, 2016

A while back, a few of us bloggers had the opportunity to try out Hog & Rocks, a brunch spot in the Mission serving classic San Francisco brunch fare. We began the brunch with an assortment of cocktails, trying everything from the original Bloody Mary to the Spiced Pear Bellini. While those were fantastic, what I was really excited about was the food. Their menu is filled with eggs and meat galore served in creative combinations. The Eggs Benedict took the cake for me, since it comes with all of the above: shaved country ham, poached eggs, hollandaise, and home fries. Take a peek at the food to see for yourself.

The Mission has got to be my favorite place in the city to go out to eat for brunch, and Hog & Rocks definitely has one of the most classic, hearty brunches that I have had in all of SF (which is saying a lot)… The atmosphere is laid back and anything but pretentious. I would go back in a heartbeat for that good home style hangover cure food.

Love,
Lauren
