Hog & Rocks Brunch

March 22, 2016

A while back, a few of us bloggers had the opportunity to try out Hog & Rocks, a brunch spot in the Mission serving classic San Francisco brunch fare. We began the brunch with an assortment of cocktails, trying everything from the original Bloody Mary to the Spiced Pear Bellini. While those were fantastic, what I was really excited about was the food. Their menu is filled with eggs and meat galore served in creative combinations. The Eggs Benedict took the cake for me, since it comes with all of the above: shaved country ham, poached eggs, hollandaise, and home fries. Take a peek at the food to see for yourself.

The Mission has got to be my favorite place in the city to go out to eat for brunch, and Hog & Rocks definitely has one of the most classic, hearty brunches that I have had in all of SF (which is saying a lot)… The atmosphere is laid back and anything but pretentious. I would go back in a heartbeat for that good home style hangover cure food.

Love,
Lauren

What to Wear to a Winery in the Spring

March 21, 2016

Happy International Happiness Day everyone! This weekend was magical and filled with happiness. I attended some events for the Flavor! Napa Valley festival, which was a five day extravaganza in Napa with over 40 events. The first event I went to was a guided wine tour to four boutique, under the radar and spectacular wineries, complete with our own Sommelier. It was fantastic. I’ll have more details (including the wineries you MUST go to) in a later blog post this week.

I was on the fence about what to wear to this event, mostly because I didn’t know what the weather would be like since it has been super rainy on and off in SF lately. I decided to go for one of my go-to winery staples, the maxi dress. It’s casual yet dressy enough to wear for a day in the vineyards. This one from Free People, is one of my favs. It’s boho yet has a bit more edge with it’s black color. And oh my, is it soft. It’s all sold out online, so I linked a few under the “SHOP THE POST” section that are similar.

Okay, I’ll give you a hint as to what winery these were shot at since I know you all are dying to know. It’s Spring Mountain Vineyard in St. Helena. One of the most if not the most beautiful winery I have ever been to. Such luscious gardens, old architecture and a smooth Cab.

Can’t wait to show you guys my next posts- I’ll take you inside the events at Flavor Napa!

Love,
Lauren

Vacation Travel Essentials

March 17, 2016

One of the most difficult things for me to do is pack for travel, especially vacations. Work travel is a bit easier because I have to do it so often, I have a mental list in my head. But when it comes to vacations, I have to think about what I want to bring for different weekend activities and outfits/accessories that go along with them. It’s also harder than work because I have more freedom (I don’t have to wear suits)!

When I packed for Arizona, I knew it was going to be dry and hot weather, so I made sure to pack some everyday essentials, including my new Vaseline Lip Therapy Tins. They come in original, rosy, cocoa, and aloe vera flavors. I have always been a user of Vaseline products to heal and prevent cracked skin, so it was only natural to bring them along on this trip, especially since I was going for a more natural look on this short vacation.

Some additional items I brought along were comfy dresses, sandals, hats and workout clothes (since you know I gotta get the workouts in, even on vacay). For this look, I paired a dress I thrifted from ThredUp with my new GiGi NewYork handbag. I usually never like pink or huge pops of color, but on vacation, that’s a different story. I definitely enjoy matching my surroundings a bit!

For a limited time, GiGi New York is partnering with Vaseline to bring you personalized pieces to complement all your handbags! From February 19th – March 19th, with every personalized GiGi New York purchase of $100+, you will receive a FREE customized Vaseline Lip Therapy Tin and monogrammed leather Lip Therapy Tin holder.

Get ’em while supplies last here!

Love,
Lauren

Bohemian Spring Break

March 16, 2016

Hi lovelies! Man, have I been busy. For the past week, I have been on business in Scottsdale and Phoenix, Arizona, so I decided to visit my grandparents who live in Tucson for the weekend. Needless to say, I have been all over Arizona in the last four days. I went back up to Scottsdale to attend a wedding of a friend of my mom’s, so that was a bunch of driving in itself! But it was all worth it. Arizona is absolutely beautiful- the wedding was at DC Ranch Country Club on the golf course. The venue reminded me of something out of Southern California, with bougainvilleas and twinkle lights lining the trees and building. Hopefully y’all followed along on my Snapchat (Bohemianbybay) to see some of the action up close! If not, there are little snippets on my .

For this work/vacation trip, I managed somehow to pack lightly. One of the pieces I chose was my new dress from THML Clothing, which doubled as a pool cover-up and dress to go out to dinner in! I only packed one pair of sandals, yikes! But they worked for most of my activities (pool, dinner, adventuring).

I kept everything fairly simple on this trip, including my hair and makeup (naturally dried in these pics). If I did wear anything, it was my absolute favorite lipgloss since it is so dry there. I covered up my make-up free face with these sunglasses most days!

Look forward to a second Arizona recap coming to the blog later this week!

Love,
Lauren
