Cocktail Hour

May 21, 2016

A new bar popped up in my favorite area in SF, the Mission! I’m sure you’ve all heard of why I love the Mission… Because of DOLO (Dolores Park for those of you who aren’t from here), Valencia Street shopping, but most of all the food. And lately I’ve found that the bar scene isn’t that bad either. I stopped by Laszlo for happy hour last Wednesday night and was not disappointed. It’s the sister bar to Foreign Cinema, a restaurant that is quite famous in the city but I have yet to try… Shhh, I know! And let me let you in on a little secret- Laszlo serves Foreign Cinema’s dinner if you ask for their menu! No more waiting having to make reservations months in advance. You’re welcome.

For this outing, I wore my favorite LDB as of late, a scalloped dress from Sheinside that easily took me from work to play. To make the look even more classy, I slipped on some peep-toe heels and put my messy hair in a bun.

It’s so so much fun exploring new places in the city! Are there any recommendations y’all have for after work cocktails?

Love,
Lauren

Hog & Rocks Brunch

March 22, 2016

A while back, a few of us bloggers had the opportunity to try out Hog & Rocks, a brunch spot in the Mission serving classic San Francisco brunch fare. We began the brunch with an assortment of cocktails, trying everything from the original Bloody Mary to the Spiced Pear Bellini. While those were fantastic, what I was really excited about was the food. Their menu is filled with eggs and meat galore served in creative combinations. The Eggs Benedict took the cake for me, since it comes with all of the above: shaved country ham, poached eggs, hollandaise, and home fries. Take a peek at the food to see for yourself.

The Mission has got to be my favorite place in the city to go out to eat for brunch, and Hog & Rocks definitely has one of the most classic, hearty brunches that I have had in all of SF (which is saying a lot)… The atmosphere is laid back and anything but pretentious. I would go back in a heartbeat for that good home style hangover cure food.

Love,
Lauren

Ampersand

January 29, 2016

Last weekend, I popped into my favorite flower shop in the city, Ampersand, to pick up some blooms for my most recent shoot. As you walk to this little spot in The Mission District, you can’t help but think how do people find this place? It’s gorgeously tucked away on a side street where the afternoon light peaks out from behind the colorful houses lining the street. The shop itself is seemingly reminiscent of an old barn house with reclaimed white wood, which is where much of it’s charm comes from. Here is a little peak into the inside of this hidden gem.

Once I stepped inside the store, I handpicked some uniquely colored sunflowers (the dark maroon coloring is natural) and chrysanthemums for a bouquet. Best of all, the whole was only $10! Can’t beat it.

Finding little places like this make me feel so lucky to live in this city. There are so many small businesses trying to make it, and it is my passion and pleasure to expose them to my readers alongside other, more established brands. Please let me know of other shops in the city that are your favorites!

Love,
Lauren

P.S. No P.C. on this one- these photos are all by me 🙂

Chambray Dress

January 27, 2016

Happy Tuesday loves! I’m sitting here watching The Bachelor since I don’t have cable and can’t watch it on Mondays while writing this blog post, pretty good Tuesday night. I hope everyone is having a great night too! For this post, I went to one of my favorite shops in the city to pick out some flowers for a prop (and my apartment!). I love a good bouquet. I headed to Ampersand, a little shop in the Mission District to hand pick some blooms. I’m not going to say too much about it in this post because I’ve got another post coming later showing you all the inside of this gorgeous, tucked away spot.

It was so nice out that day that I wore just a chambray dress, no leggings/tights and some booties! There’s not much I love more than a good comfortable and casual dress that I can wear with booties. This dress from Charming Charlie is a real winner, I love the tie around the waist that gives you a bit of shape.

After picking up flowers at Ampersand, we wandered to Dolores Park and ate sandwiches we picked up from Mission Picnic. A great day of exploring in San Francisco!

Looking forward to spring, I’ll give you a sneak peak of some blooms to get you in the spring mood in my next post!

Love,
Lauren
