Coffee on Polk Street

June 8, 2016

One of my favorite activities on a slow and rainy day is to go to a coffee shop to work on my blog (aka snap some pics of my latte, jk… maybe). In all seriousness, I love the atmosphere that coffee shops in San Francisco have. Some are filled with entrepreneurs working on their next projects, some are filled with people in deep conversation. But one thing that they all have in common is great coffee. Let me tell you, living in SF for two years has taught me a few things about good coffee. I will definitely have to take you all on a tour of my favorite coffee shops in the city in one of my blog posts. For this post, I went to Saint Frank Coffee on Polk Street. They are known for their Macadamia Almond Milk Latte. Just read that again. SO good. Their super minimal and trendy interior isn’t too bad on the eyes, either.

I brought only a few things to the coffee shop with me, as I just wanted to have casual conversation with my boyfriend Jack or listen to some soft music and peruse Instagram. One of the items I brought was my Sudio Sweden earphones, classic beauties they are. The rose gold details get me every time and they actually stay in your ear with customized in-ear sleeves! The headphones came in a small leather case, which is great for keeping them clean and untangled in my overflowing purse. Overall, I would say they are a necessity if you are looking to invest in some unique designer earphones.

Other items I packed were my phone, cause duh, my wallet, and RayBan sunnies that I am currently obsessed with. Not much but sometimes thats all you need.

While writing this blog post, I actually thought of one of my next posts- exploring all of my fav coffee shops in SF! What do ya’ll think?

Love,
Lauren

Morning Coffee + Clay

April 21, 2016

Last Saturday I did something that I have wanted to do for a long time… I went to my first pottery class! The class was put on through Verlocal, a social platform built to bring people with similar interests and hobbies together. They have a variety of events, everything from perfume making to cooking classes.

The class was held at a small art studio on Sutter Street, SMAart Gallery and Studio. It was an early morning and the sun was shining through the windows of the studio as I walked in. The gallery was filled with different artists’ work and the studio was in the back. After some light conversation over coffee and donuts, Jackie, our instructor, began demoing how to set up and center your clay. She made it look effortless, but when I tried to do the exact same thing myself, it was a disaster. This was my first time throwing clay or making pottery on a clay wheel, so I had no idea what I was doing… But I got better as I made more and more pieces. In the end, I made a cup and a bowl. I’ll have to show you all on my when they are all finished!

I’d have to say that I will definitely be trying pottery class again. It’s something that you have to try more than once to get good at, and I just love the look of handmade pottery- every piece turns out different.

I’ll definitely be taking another class with Verlocal as well. Next time I’m thinking of sharpening up my cooking skills?! Hope you all are having a fabulous day.

Love,
Lauren

Stones Throw Review

November 4, 2015

I’m super excited to launch a new section of my blog in the “Explore SF” category: reviews of restaurants in each SF neighborhood. I have teamed up with a lot of foodie bloggers lately, and I love to be a part of this group. Not to mention on half of my fashion posts I already talk about all the brunch places I go… So I decided it was time to separate the two.

Last weekend, I went to Stones Throw, a brunch, lunch, and dinner restaurant on Hyde Street in Nob Hill. I didn’t know they served brunch, but now I for sure do- it was a killer one!

On the menu was…

Snacks:
Smoked Salmon Mousse
Puffed Potato and Eggs
Lavender-Scented Beignets

Sweets:
Butter-Fried Pancakes
Cinnamon-Spiced Monkey Bread
Brown-Butter Crepe

Savory:
Little Gem & Avocado Salad
Soft Scrambled Eggs
Duck Confit Hash

My favorite was the soft scrambled eggs, complete with garlic-spiced broccolini, tomatoes, ricotta, and grilled bread crumble. The only thing I would critique about this menu was the fact that sweets came before savory in the family style menu. Other than that- delicious! And quite a unique brunch menu compared to others that have the usual Eggs Benedict and French Toast.

If you are in the Nob Hill neighborhood, I would definitely give this place a chance!

Happy eating,
BB xx

Stanford Hotel X SF Bloggers

October 30, 2015

A few weeks ago, the Stanford Court Hotel hosted a lovely happy hour for a few bloggers in the city. It was complete with yummy appetizers, drinks and gift bags. The main reason for hosting the event was to tell us of the upcoming redesign of the hotel, a plan to make it even more tech friendly and modern. Nestled on the top of Nob Hill next to the old gems of the city, Mark Hopkins Hotel and the Fairmont, the Stanford Court has some tough competition. But nonetheless, it is a more budget friendly place to stay and definitely more modern. In fact, my parents and I stayed here when I first moved to the city! Definitely consider it if you are traveling to SF anytime soon. Take a peek inside:

Also, take a look at the other bloggers who joined me: Tiffany of Sunshine Daydream Photography and Lindsey of Seamless Sea!

Always love to help grow the community and hear about local events and initiatives!

Love,
BB xx
