Bohemian by the Bay

A life + style guide for the modern bohemian woman

Secret Garden

April 28, 2016

About a week ago, I had the opportunity to shoot with , an amazing SF photographer. I have been a fan of his work for a while, so when we finally got the chance to collab, I knew it was going to be pretty epic! We went to a secret rooftop garden in Nob Hill in SF for the shoot then wandered around the neighborhood afterwards.

It was a balmy day, so I decided to wear jeans underneath a new dress I picked up recently from Crossroads (that same one in Pasadena, such a good one!). I like this trend, mostly because in SF dresses are sometimes impractical with all the wind, but also because it is a great way to transition from spring to summer and be a little more conservative while doing so. I paired the jeans/dress combo with my black lace up wedges to give it a bit more edge.

I hope to collab with Sam again soon to create some more content for you all! I’m headed to LA again this weekend (what’s new) so follow along on my snapchat (Bohemianbybay).

Love,
Lauren

Lace Up Floral Dress

April 26, 2016

One of the fall trends I just can’t seem to shake is the lace up trend. It most definitely came from the 70’s, as many of the best trends usually do, in my opinion. When I came across this dress at Crossroads in Pasadena when I was there a little bit ago, I immediate fell in love- I love the floral pattern (not too overwhelming) mixed with the lace-up neck. You can’t really go wrong with the two combined.

I paired the dress with guess what? More lace up. This time, I added some of my most favorite brown lace up heels from The Mint Julep Boutique. I think you might notice a trend on my blog here… Floral dresses and open-toed shoes? Now I guess you know what I’ll be wearing all season.

These photos were taken on Lake Merritt in Oakland. It was my first time visiting the area, and it was wonderful! A lot of different cafes and shops in this area that we explored. If you head to this area, I recommend going into Oaktown Spice Shop for a great selection of fresh cooking and baking spices. It’s the little things (like spices) that get me excited!

Love,
Lauren

Open Back Spring Dress

April 25, 2016

A few weeks ago, on another nice sunny (windy) say in the city, I headed to Lafayette Park to do a shoot with Lisha Wang of Lisha Wang Photography. Lafayette Park is at the end of Clay Street on Nob Hill. The park itself has stunning views of the Marina and is one of the lesser known parks in the city. On any given afternoon you can often find a family barbecuing near the playground or women doing Tai-Chi amongst the redwoods.

For this park day, I paired one of my favorite dresses I picked up from Urban Outfitters in the Marina with my go-to suede wedges. I don’t normally do this, but I added a pop of color with this yellow clutch I got from Charming Charlie. The overall look was bohemian-chic, and most definitely “me”.

I’ve been really into spring dresses these days, so look for more of those outfits to come! Right now, I’m headed to watch the Game of Thrones Premier 🙂 Anyone else watch that show?

*I’ve linked some similar styles to shop below since this particular dress is almost sold out online!

Much love,
Lauren

Denim Jacket

April 5, 2016

Spring is all about transition pieces, whether that be transition jackets, shoes, or accessories. One of my favorite transition pieces is the denim jacket. It’s heavy enough to get you through those brisk winds (especially in SF) and light enough to tie around the waist for a casual-chic look (yes, our favorite middle school trend is back)! And denim is one thing that can be paired with almost anything. A favorite of mine is denim paired with white jeans ALA Brunch on Chestnut. Or even denim on denim can look good.

That gets me to remind you all, if you haven’t shopped or signed up for Like to Know It, it’s about time you do so! This way, you can shop directly from my . For every post you like that is linked to an outfit I am wearing, you get an email and can shop directly from there! Not to mention the site has a million fashion bloggers for some serious inspo!

I paired my denim jacket with a skirt, a comfy tee, and heels for a little class. This look could have probably been paired with my favorite boots, but it’s spring and those are a little heavier.

The skirt I am wearing is last season from H&M, but you can shop similar styles below.

Love,
Lauren
