A life + style guide for the modern bohemian woman

Scallop Silk Top

March 7, 2016

Hi lovelies! I hope you all are having a lovely weekend! As you may have heard, it has been raining non-stop here in SF, and it is supposed to for another week! I usually love the rain, because it is an excuse to stay inside and watch movies and order take-out, but when it rains for a week straight, that can be sort of depressing. Good thing I am headed out of town this Wednesday to somewhere warm! Follow along on my Snapchat (Bohemianbybay) to see where I am headed.

In between the rain storms this weekend, I broke out one of my all time favorite silk tops from Madewell and paired it with light wash ripped jeans. The top is scalloped around the edges, giving it a touch of femininity, which I love. I just had to wear it with ripped jeans to give the outfit some edge. It’s a super comfy weekend combo- great for anything from brunching to farmer’s markets (two activities I frequent).

For this post, I collaborated with one of my favorite jewelry brands, Gorjana and Rocksbox to feature Gorjana’s new DIY necklace sets. I love simple gold jewelry, but I stacked on the layers to add make the necklace more of a statement piece. Let me know what you think!

I can’t wait for the upcoming weeks, I have some super fun posts coming up!

Love,
Lauren

Spring Transition Pieces

February 22, 2016

Lately, I have been pairing winter essentials, like this turtleneck with lighter jackets for spring. It’s getting nice in SF, meaning sixty degrees with a bit of windchill, so I like to bring out some fresh pieces for spring but still keep warm while I do so. With spring around the corner, I also have been leaning towards the lighter pastels (blush, light grey) paired with neutrals (camel, white). I love the results.

I snagged this jacket from Buffalo Exchange, one of my favorite resale boutiques in the city. I also shopped here when I lived in Colorado, so they have them all over! I highly recommend selling clothes there if you are looking for a little extra cash or for some unique thrifted finds. I paired it with this Rose Quartz Necklace from Chainless Brain, a high end jewelry retailer with some very interesting pieces. Check ’em out!

I also did three shoots this weekend, so be excited for some fun posts to come 🙂

Love,
Lauren

Stones Throw Review

November 4, 2015

I’m super excited to launch a new section of my blog in the “Explore SF” category: reviews of restaurants in each SF neighborhood. I have teamed up with a lot of foodie bloggers lately, and I love to be a part of this group. Not to mention on half of my fashion posts I already talk about all the brunch places I go… So I decided it was time to separate the two.

Last weekend, I went to Stones Throw, a brunch, lunch, and dinner restaurant on Hyde Street in Nob Hill. I didn’t know they served brunch, but now I for sure do- it was a killer one!

On the menu was…

Snacks:
Smoked Salmon Mousse
Puffed Potato and Eggs
Lavender-Scented Beignets

Sweets:
Butter-Fried Pancakes
Cinnamon-Spiced Monkey Bread
Brown-Butter Crepe

Savory:
Little Gem & Avocado Salad
Soft Scrambled Eggs
Duck Confit Hash

My favorite was the soft scrambled eggs, complete with garlic-spiced broccolini, tomatoes, ricotta, and grilled bread crumble. The only thing I would critique about this menu was the fact that sweets came before savory in the family style menu. Other than that- delicious! And quite a unique brunch menu compared to others that have the usual Eggs Benedict and French Toast.

If you are in the Nob Hill neighborhood, I would definitely give this place a chance!

Happy eating,
BB xx
