Navy Blue Bandana

April 14, 2016

One of my favorite accessory trends that has come back is the bandana. I think the 70’s was the last time this accessory was in full swing? There are so many ways to wear the bandana, whether that be around the neck (ala my friend Lindsey of the blog Seamless Sea), in the hair like I chose for this outfit, or wrapped around the wrist. Whatever you chose, this accessory adds a little bit of edge to any outfit and gives off a cool-girl-chic vibe. I can jump on board with that.

I paired the bandana with one of my favorite T-shirts that I’ve had since high school. Johnny Depp has been my celebrity crush since the moment I saw “Chocolate”, I mean that mustache and that hair, am I right?! So, it was only natural that I got this T-shirt to show my affection publicly. All hail Johnny.

These shots were taken in Old Town Pasadena. If you all are ever in that area, be sure to grab coffee at Lavender & Honey Espresso. I didn’t get to try their lavender latte or lavender honey toast with goat cheese (mistakes!), but that is what they are most known for.

Can’t wait to show you all what’s to come… I’ve been teaming up with a lot of photographers lately to bring you guys some great content 🙂

Love,
Lauren

Casual Weekend Chic

April 12, 2016

Last weekend, I explored around one of my favorite places in LA, Silverlake. Silverlake is such an enchanting town, with the cutest boutiques lining Sunset and jungle-like leaves everywhere. It’s one of my favorite places. While I was there, I went to Alfred Coffee, enSoie, and Fox Hole Denim to name a few shops.

For a day of strolling along Sunset, where the super-edgy meets the bohemian hippie, I wore my favorite joggers I got from a boutique in LA, with my lace up heels I love so much. Given a second chance, I would probably have packed something a bit more edgy, like this hat, to go with the outfit. In LA, you’ve got to have some serious style to stand out- but as always, keep it classy.

I can’t wait to go back and explore around this town a little more. All of the bungalows and bougainvilleas lining the side streets are to die for! Any places you all recommend in Silverlake?

Love,
Lauren

Distressed Overalls

March 29, 2016

If I had to pick one trend that most people say “I couldn’t pull that off” about, it would be overalls. But let me tell you this, you probably can, you just need to know what to wear them with and what style fits your shape. For example, if you are extremely tall, I wouldn’t recommend a skinny fit. And vice versa, if you are on the shorter side, I wouldn’t recommend a boyfriend fit. Other than that, there are many styles out there to choose from. One style that I like that works with any size is distressed overalls.

I paired my distressed pair (sold out at Zara, similar at Madewell) with a long sleeve top from J. Crew and my Converse that I have had since highschool. This created more of a laid-back vibe, but to dress overalls up, just throw on heels and add a nice bag!

To top off this look, I tied my hair into a quintessential girl bun (half-up with a top knot…pun intended). So let it be known that you CAN pull off overalls and a top knot if you wish, and don’t let anyone tell you differently.

Love,
Lauren

Scallop Silk Top

March 7, 2016

Hi lovelies! I hope you all are having a lovely weekend! As you may have heard, it has been raining non-stop here in SF, and it is supposed to for another week! I usually love the rain, because it is an excuse to stay inside and watch movies and order take-out, but when it rains for a week straight, that can be sort of depressing. Good thing I am headed out of town this Wednesday to somewhere warm! Follow along on my Snapchat (Bohemianbybay) to see where I am headed.

In between the rain storms this weekend, I broke out one of my all time favorite silk tops from Madewell and paired it with light wash ripped jeans. The top is scalloped around the edges, giving it a touch of femininity, which I love. I just had to wear it with ripped jeans to give the outfit some edge. It’s a super comfy weekend combo- great for anything from brunching to farmer’s markets (two activities I frequent).

For this post, I collaborated with one of my favorite jewelry brands, Gorjana and Rocksbox to feature Gorjana’s new DIY necklace sets. I love simple gold jewelry, but I stacked on the layers to add make the necklace more of a statement piece. Let me know what you think!

I can’t wait for the upcoming weeks, I have some super fun posts coming up!

Love,
Lauren
