Bohemian by the Bay

A life + style guide for the modern bohemian woman

Straw Hat

March 4, 2016

We all know that fashion revolves around the seasons, and this spring, I couldn’t be more on board! The blooms are out in San Francisco, the rain is coming, and it makes my heart flutter. I have been transitioning my outfits from winter into spring, which is not hard in SF because the weather is so mild this season (it can even get in the 70’s/80’s this time of year).

For a casual day of picnic-ing in the park and exploring around the city, which is the most common weekend activities for me here, I paired this no-sleeve mock neck tee (similar here) with an A-line skirt from GAP. One of the most important accessories for spring, though, has got to be hats. I’m loving straw hats this season- from wide-brimmed beach-y versions to flat top fedoras, I love them all for separate occasions. My favorite, though has to be the latter, which is what I paired with the skirt and mock neck tee.

What are your guys’ favs for spring? I know some other things on my list are: bathing suits (anything with an Aztec print and high neck line and I’m in), open toed heels and maxi dresses!

Looking forward to a vacation I have coming up 🙂 Stay tuned to see where!

Love,
Lauren

Ampersand

January 29, 2016

Last weekend, I popped into my favorite flower shop in the city, Ampersand, to pick up some blooms for my most recent shoot. As you walk to this little spot in The Mission District, you can’t help but think how do people find this place? It’s gorgeously tucked away on a side street where the afternoon light peaks out from behind the colorful houses lining the street. The shop itself is seemingly reminiscent of an old barn house with reclaimed white wood, which is where much of it’s charm comes from. Here is a little peak into the inside of this hidden gem.

Once I stepped inside the store, I handpicked some uniquely colored sunflowers (the dark maroon coloring is natural) and chrysanthemums for a bouquet. Best of all, the whole was only $10! Can’t beat it.

Finding little places like this make me feel so lucky to live in this city. There are so many small businesses trying to make it, and it is my passion and pleasure to expose them to my readers alongside other, more established brands. Please let me know of other shops in the city that are your favorites!

Love,
Lauren

P.S. No P.C. on this one- these photos are all by me 🙂
