If You’re a Bird I’m a Bird

February 12, 2015

Hello beautiful people! This past weekend was magical. One of my best friends and I headed to her lake house in Copperopolis to get away from the city for a few days. It was a much needed weekend filled with fine food, wine, and relaxation. I figured it would be a perfect time to do a shoot too, because not many people are up at the lake and it can be a little hard to pack for such a weekend when there are not many activities to do except lounging. For this reason, I paired stretchy jeans with a billowy floral top and pullover sweater for a comfy yet practical look not only for relaxing but also for a little bit of exploring around the lake. My Hunter rain boots were a must, especially when it rained eighty percent of the time I was there. The boots are worth the investment, they even keep your feet dry in snow!

The whole weekend reminded me of the rainy days at the lake reminiscent of scenes in The Notebook. Still swooning.

What I’m Wearing:
Skinny jeans: H&M
Green rain boots: Hunter
Floral top: Ecote (Urban Outfitters)
Sweater: H&M
Hat: Charming Charlie

I’m headed somewhere even more romantic for V-Day next weekend. Stay tuned 🙂
BB

Hayes Valley Sunshine

February 2, 2015

Hayes Valley on a Saturday. One of my favorite places to be. Lined with unique boutiques, farm to table restaurants and ice cream parlors, Hayes Street is a destination spot. My favorite store in Hayes Valley has to be Lavish, a card store that has an entire wall designed by Anna Bond of Rifle Paper Company. Everything this lady designs turns to gold. The bubbly flowers and cursive writing are so playful, I die! Be sure to check out her designs if you haven’t already.

For this sunny day, I should have opted for shorts but instead, I wore the complete opposite- linen pants. Oooof was that a mistake. I wanted to wear them though, cause they are new and needed to be properly broken in. I paired the pants with sandals and a billowy top for a playful yet sophisticated vibe.

What I’m Wearing:
High-waisted pants: American Apparel
Black silk top: H&M
Black bag: The Limited
Brown Strappy Sandals: Target

Much love,
BB

Strolling down Abbott Kinney

January 25, 2015

One of the other amazing places I went when I was in SoCal was Venice. We began the day shopping and eating along Abbott Kinney, made ever so famous by the show ‘Californication’ which I am loving at the moment. If you are ever in this area, be sure to try the restaurant Gjelina, which has some incredible farm-to-table produce. To go with the too-cool-for-school vibes here, I went with an ultra-hipster look. I paired a camel leather side-zip skirt with an old Rolling Stones t-shirt and my favorite Sam Edelman booties. I think it came out pretty cool, ya? Can’t wait to go back to some of the restaurants I saw strolling down Abbott Kinney next time I’m down south.

What I’m Wearing:
Rolling Stones t-shirt: Thrifted (of course)
Wool hat: Forever21
Camel Skirt: H&M
Booties: Sam Edelman
Black bag: The Limited

Much love,
BB xx

Breakfast at Tiffany’s

January 13, 2015

This shoot was set in an extra special place- my friend’s top floor apartment. It has a quintessential San Francisco city vibe and it’s absolutely to die for. We decided to shoot outside on the fire escape which was a little dangerous, but totally worth it. The views were incredible up there. There is something so charming about windowsills and fire escapes, almost romantic thanks to Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. To complete the look and feel, I wore a floppy hat that I got for Christmas from Charming Charlie’s and a long graphic t-shirt dress thrifted from Buffalo Exchange a while ago. This has to be one of my favorite shoots yet.

“Moon river, wider than a mile
I’m crossing you in style some day
Oh dream maker, you heart breaker
Wherever you’re going, I’m going your way
Two drifters off to see the world
There’s such a lot of world to see
We’re after the same rainbow’s end
Waiting ’round the bend, my huckleberry friend
Moon river and me”

What I’m wearing:
Black tweed jacket: Gap similar here
Black t-shirt dress: Thrifted
Shoes: Lucky Brand
Floppy hat: Charming Charlie (they also have some great ones from Forever21)

Cheers to a new week in the new year.

Love,
BB
