How to Stay Hydrated this Summer

July 7, 2016

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and The Coca-Cola Company. All opinions are mine alone. #SummerHydration #CollectiveBias

Hi babes! I hope you all had a wonderful and long holiday weekend. I spent mine exploring Southern California, both in LA and San Diego. Before traveling to San Diego to meet up with some friends for the fourth, my boyfriend and I began our long weekend with a drive in the mountains of Los Angeles (or should we say hills… I can say that because I’m from Colorado). I didn’t pack much with me, besides my purse and some hydration essentials.

When I am at work at my desk all day, I find it easier to stay hydrated since you can easily refill and go to the bathroom as you please. On the weekends or for long trips, however, I find it difficult to stay hydrated all day. But it is really, really important to prevent headaches, dry hair, dehydration (obviously), heat exhaustion, early wrinkles and a multitude of other health problems. That’s why I partnered with CVS and The Coca-Cola Company to share some tips to stay hydrated this summer (and look cute doing it I might add). Be sure to read these tips and tricks from other bloggers for summer hydration as well!

How I stay hydrated during the summer:

1. Pack more than you think you need- head to your local CVS for a quick pick up of your favorite beverages, usually at least two drinks per person for an afternoon. Also, you never know when you will get a chance to refill!

2. Hydrate with water first- my first choice for staying hydrated is water. Without any added sugar or calories, it is the perfect natural thirst quencher. smartwater even has some added electrolytes, so it’s my go-to.

3. Tea in the afternoon- I like to drink water all morning then switch to tea to beat that afternoon slump with a little caffeine. Honest Tea has some great, healthy choices (just choose ones without all the added sugar- I like the Honey Green Tea as shown above).

Learn more about staying hydrated and find some additional inspiration here. Spend $5, get $2 in ExtraBucks rewards in-store with your CVS ExtraCare Rewards Card.

Much love and cheers to staying healthy and hydrated this summer!

Love,
Lauren

Summer Suede Choker

July 1, 2016

Before I left for Steamboat, Colorado, I had the opportunity to shoot with Lauren O’Neil, a Boston based photographer, designer and friend. I love the interesting angles Lauren shoots from and her edgy, street-style vibe. It’s interesting to pair our two styles; mine being more feminine bohemian and hers more minimal. I have to say I love the results!

I wore a more casual outfit to match her style and she shot in places that matched my style, and the whole thing just worked. I paired a casual Madewell tee with my go-to black skinnies and these new boots I’m obsessed with. This is a typical weekend look for me (I would live in skinny jeans if I could!). To top the look off, I wore this suede choker from Ettika (also on Revolve.com!). Being a 90’s baby, I LOVE the current choker trend that is happening right now. Anyone remember those black tattoo chokers from back in the day?! Well they’re back!

I’m currently in LA/SD for the long weekend and holiday, so you can follow along my adventures on Snapchat (Bohemianbybay). I hope you all have a happy and safe 4th of July!

Look forward to some fun stuff coming on the blog 🙂

Love,
Lauren

Best Workout Studio in Nob Hill

June 28, 2016

I usually don’t do too many fitness related posts on my blog, but working out is such a big part of my life, so I love to share my thoughts with you all! As most of you know, I live in the Nob Hill neighborhood in SF, which is great for it’s proximity to work. Another perk of living on Nob Hill is the abundance of workout studios here. There’s Core40, Moxie, and a few others that I have not tried.

When a boutique studio called Uforia Studios approached me, I was very interested in trying out their classes. Uforia has three types of classes: Revolutions (cycle), GRIT (a mix of weights and HIIT), and Hip Hop (dance). I am a HUGE fan of the Rev and GRIT classes. By doing both of these classes together, you can definitely get a good mix of cardio and strength training- two essentials every girl needs to get and stay in shape.

What I like most about Uforia besides their motto (#embracethesweat) is the approachability of the staff and the atmosphere that the studio provides. Although there are some regulars, there are always new people coming in to try the classes, so you don’t feel like an outsider. The instructors are young, fun, and sometimes silly, yet they are able to give you a GREAT workout. That mix of approachability and toughness is hard to find in group fitness classes sometimes, but Uforia has it! Give this studio a try if you are in the SF area and get ready to embrace the sweat!

Love,
Lauren

Wrap Maxi Skirt

June 27, 2016

This weekend was absolutely beautiful in the city. It was in the high 70’s all weekend, the Pride festival was in full affect and the sun was shining. Weekends like these make me love living in this city. On Saturday, I explored around Japantown for the first time since moving here with my friend Shikha. Although I have tasted a mean Korean BBQ in Japantown, I’ve never taken the time to walk around there. We went to a few shops and wandered in Crown & Crumpet, the CUTEST tea shop I’ve ever seen. I was dressed for the part with a long wrap skirt I picked up from the Amour Vert event earlier this week.

I paired the wrap skirt with my black lace-up wedges, a light sea foam green colored tank and a really useful black tote from Charming Charlie. This wrap skirt is such a great summer staple- the length is midi (so in), the fabric allows for great movement, and this skirt itself it is cut from the highest quality Mulberry silk.

Amour Vert (means GREEN LOVE in French… swoon) is such a great brand. I’ve fallen in love with their unique styles and the way they go about sustainable fashion with non toxic dyes, sensuous fabrics and innovative techniques. If you haven’t checked out their Hayes Valley store, be sure to pop in!

Love,
Lauren
