Tortoiseshell Round Sunglasses

July 21, 2016

One of my absolute favorite trends this summer are round sunglasses. They have a classic 70’s vibe and instantly up the coolness factor of any outfit. I wore this tortoiseshell pair, from Kapten & Son, an uber cool brand that sells watches and glasses with a nautical-hipster vibe, to the park on a sunny SF Sunday (I know… sometimes we have those, weird, right?). I paired them with a sheer black romper and my summer booties I recently purchased. The look was laid back, but effortlessly cool with these sunnies on.

I have tagged some similar pairs down below for you all to shop, but I really do recommend Kapten & Son for their high-quality sunglasses. I haven’t purchased a watch from them before, but I imagine they are just as good of quality.

What are some of your favorite trends this summer? Comment below, I would love to know!

Love,
Lauren

White Lace Up Dress

July 15, 2016

Nothing screams summer more than white clothes. I love this seasonal trend (ssshhh, I even think you can wear it year long) on everything from jeans, to tops, to dresses. One of my favorite white dresses for this summer, from Twenty5A, mixes this seasonal trend with the lace up trend that is still happening from fall. Give me a bohemian crochet and I’m all in!

I paired this white dress with my go-to lace up sandals. I think I need another pair of these, no? I feel like I wear these all too often, but they really match with almost everything. This dress would also be great for those late summer festivals that everyone is dying to go to… Ahem, Outside Lands. It actually might be a top contender in my list of outfits for that festival.

I wore this dress on a nice Sunday stroll through McKinley Square, a lovely hidden park in Portrero Hill. There were families barbecuing, people practicing yoga, and you guessed it… People wandering around playing Pokemon! I cannot believe how big of a sensation this game is. I might have to consider jumping on the bandwagon. After all, I did actively collect Pokemon cards back in the day.

Anyway, I’ve got some more shoots in the works, so stay tuned!

Love,
Lauren

Hamlet x Bohemian by the Bay

July 12, 2016

If you’re anything like me, you are so busy you barely have any time to sleep let alone conquer the lower tasks on the end of your to-do list. And often these tasks are the things that you actually want to do. One such task for me is redecorating my living room and finding artwork for the now blank walls. I’ve wanted to decorate for a long time, but between my full-time job, friends, traveling and blogging, I just haven’t had time. So when Hamlet approached me, an app centered around buying home goods and getting interior design advice over text, I was thrilled to get the extra help in this area.

I texted my stylist asking for help on picking out some items I want for redecorating: a throw pillow and some wall art. She asked me to send some inspiration pieces or describe what style I was going for. I told her my style was bohemian-chic and I was looking for a throw pillow. After a few shots, she hit the nail on the head with a lovely fern print pillow that I was just what I was looking for. We then did the same with artwork, and found a beautiful fern print from Rifle Paper Co. and an amazing print of a beach in Wakiki (I think she could tell I was going for the whole beach theme).

I still need a few more pieces to add to the collection before hanging them on my wall, but for now I think they look good all perched on my desk. I added the beach print to above my dresser in my bedroom, but I would like to have a collage of prints for the living room. Perhaps I will need to use Hamlet again to find some more! Y’all should check it out when you have time (to save you some)! To get a better idea of how their service works, here’s a snapshot of my conversation with Hamlet:

If any of you try the service, let me know in the comments below how you liked it!

Love,
Lauren

Fourth of July in Coronado

July 8, 2016

If you’ve been following along on my Snapchat (Bohemianbybay) or , you know that for the fourth I went to San Diego to meet up with my besties. Before the shenanigans that happened on the fourth in Pacific Beach, Jack and I went out for a nice dinner in Coronado. I’ve never been to Coronado before, but man was I blown away. Coronado was one of the most beautiful places I’ve been in California, and that is saying a lot because in the two years I have lived here, I’ve been to quite a lot of locations.

For a dinner at Bluewater Grill, a gorgeous bayside restaurant, I wore my white knit dress I picked up from Amour Vert a few weeks ago. It was the perfect outfit to wear for the night, especially when beach nights get a little chilly after the sun goes down. I paired it with my go-to gladiators (I might need another pair… I always wear these)!

I absolutely loved exploring around the Hotel del Coronado at sunset. People were just coming in from their day at the beach, were getting ready for bonfires, on their way to dinner, or just on a sunset stroll. I felt like I was walking along the Outerbanks shores on the East Coast; the beach had this magical, fleeting and romantic vibe. Oh man, I love traveling. Let me know if you have any recommendations for next time I head to Coronado, because I know I will be back!

Much love,
Lauren
