I am so happy to partake in a monumental campaign called “Bridging the Gap”, a movement centered around blurring boundaries and ending age stereotypes. For me in this blogging journey, it’s imperative that I speak out for causes that I believe in. This in particular, is one of them. One of the foundations of my blog is encouraging others to pursue their passion, in all forms, whatever it may be. Too often I get asked, “How do I start a blog” and hear complaints about how hard it may be to become “successful”, whatever that is defined as. Well, let me tell you the secret: JUST BEGIN. We all started somewhere, it’s a journey that is not defined by “success” or how many followers you have (at least for me). It’s a process to encourage others, build community, get a little creative, and ultimately live life more fully.
For this campaign, I was paired with Janet Earling-Bencivenni, who lives in Baltimore. We exchanged information, and although we didn’t have to time to chat over the phone, we shared each others stories. Hers is incredible. Janet started blogging just this past January to share her story of weight loss, fitness, fashion, and finding herself after 50. She lost 70 lbs four years ago when she became a runner, is currently training to compete as a powerlifter and is currently in yoga teacher training. In her own words, “I hope to encourage and inspire others regardless of age along their journey; whether it’s weight loss, becoming fit; etc… I hope my story helps at least one person know they aren’t alone and they can do it too!”

You can follow along Janet’s journey on her Instagram and blog.
It’s stories like Janet’s that need to be heard, because together we can lift each other up and overcome any obstacles. Through this movement, we hope to inspire others to pursue their dream regardless of age, and break down stereotypes. We are women supporting women, along with a few brave men joining in the celebration. We believe that we are stronger together. Follow along the movement on Instagram #BridgingtheGap and on our leader’s blog Catherine Grace O!
Thanks for including me, you badass ladies! #StrongerTogether
Love,
Lauren
