It’s been about a year since I published this post about the best camera for fashion bloggers. It’s been quite a popular post, so I’ve decided to revise it and update it with my current choices of gear since the photography industry is always coming out with amazing new products. I will still break it down by budget, since usually that is the biggest factor driving purchase decisions.

Best Camera for Fashion Bloggers at Every Budget:
1. Entry-level cameras: If you want to upgrade from your iPhone to a DSLR camera, I would first start to look into Canon’s options- I have always been a Canon girl (until recently when I started to dabble in the mirrorless cameras). Nonetheless, Canon has great entry level cameras, including the fan favorite, Canon EOS Rebel T7i/800D. This camera delivers great photo quality and has amazing video autofocus compared to it’s Nikon counterpart, the Nikon D5600. These entry level DSLR cameras usually come with a kit lens, however I would recommend a prime lens. This is how you will get the “bokeh” or blurry background a lot of fashion bloggers look for. A prime lens is any upgrade from the kit lens. I like to recommend the “nifty-50”, 50mm f/1.8 lens to those starting out. This lens captures you in all your glory without any image distortion. You can also upgrade to a 1.4 or 1.2 if you would like a blurrier background- the lower the f-stop the more bokeh you will get in the background. With these cameras, you will have to stand farther back (especially with a prime lens with no zoom) since these cameras are not full-frame.
2. Mid-Range: If you have a little more money to spend, I would look into investing in a mirrorless camera. The differences between mirrorless and DSLR’s are as follows: mirrorless tend to be quite lighter, quicker, sharper (more pixels), and better at video. DSLR’s, however, are better in low light and have a greater selection of lenses to choose from. For travel or fashion bloggers, the size and quality of the camera are both huge factors. The fact that you don’t have to sacrifice quality and size is a game changer! These cameras are really the next big thing in photography. A couple options of mirrorless cameras I recommend are: Sony Alpha a7ii or the Fuji xt2. I have has the pleasure to play with both of these cameras, and they are both amazing. The Sony Alpha a7ii is sharper than any camera I have ever known and is full-frame (YASSSS), but the Fuji xt2 is better at focusing quickly to capture movement.
3. Professional: If you are looking into a big investment for your business, I’ve outlined a couple options that professional photographers use. DSLR: Canon 5D Mark III or Canon 5D Mark IV. Mirrorless: Fuji xt2, Sony Alpha a7iii. All of the above would be exceptional choices for photos, and so it’s just the decision between mirrorless and DSLR!
4. My Current Camera: Subscribe to my email list to see the details on what camera I use!
I use the Sony a7ii, with a Sony 50mm 1.8 lens! This is a full-frame mirrorless camera and so far I LOVE it! I plan on investing in another wider lens, such as a 28 or 35mm, to capture more landscapes!

I hope you all find this article helpful- it is a compilation of all my research into one palce to save you all time and help you on your entrepreneurial pursuits!
