Bohemian by the Bay

A life + style guide for the modern bohemian woman

Outside Lands Day Three

August 10, 2016

When the last day of Outside Lands came around, I was beyond thrilled that the weather was actually nice! Sunshine meant I could break out what I really wanted to wear, with some modifications of course, since it still gets pretty chilly at night. For the last day, I wore a Kimchi Blue black lace top that I got from Urban Outfitters on sale a few years back (I linked a few similar tops below to shop). I paired the top with my black ripped jeans for an extra edgy look. To top it off, I wore my TEMPTU lipstick in shade Plush Plum. This look was the perfect amount of bohemian and edgy, two styles I love.

The last day of the festival was perhaps my favorite. I was STOKED to see Third Eye Blind, Miguel and Lana Del Rey. All who didn’t disappoint. The music was great, I met up with all my friends, my boyfriend came up from LA, the sun was shining and I my feet didn’t hurt from these booties! All around, it was a good day.

I’m headed to Colorado tomorrow to see my lovely cousin get married (and I’m part of the wedding)! I can’t wait. Stay updated on my or Snapchat (Bohemianbybay).

Love you all,
Lauren

Festival Style

August 9, 2016

This past weekend, I headed to Outside Lands for the second year in a row. For those of you who have never attended a festival before, you might not know it is a huge deal. For those of you that have, you know what I mean. There is a lot that goes into planning for the three days… You have to pick out the right snacks, buy bottled water, outfit plan, mentally prep (so psyched!) and physically prep (rest). I won’t get into too many details about the aforementioned on my blog, except of course the outfit planning.

For day one, it was extremely hard to prep for since the weather was supposed to be in the mid-fifties with a chance of mist (rain in SF in the summer). How could one possibly look festival chic without showing any skin?! I think I mastered the task, though, when I found this maxi dress. It is cotton/thermal material so it allowed me to stay warm while wearing a dress without tights. I paired the dress with my perforated black booties and my trusty wide-brim fedora. I also added a vest for extra warmth and coverage (or in case I wanted to eat a burrito).

One thing I do regret about wearing this dress is that it was a little harder to walk in, since it is tight the entire way down to my ankles. The shoes worked really well, however. I highly recommend wearing booties or boots for walking around; tennis shoes or sneakers just don’t have the support your feet need.

I’ll be recapping one more outfit and some of my fav performances tomorrow night! Stay tuned (get it?!) haha.

Love,
Lauren

Sheer Kimono

August 3, 2016

Last weekend, I got the chance to visit one of the places on my long to “Places to Visit in LA” list. We ditched the LA heat (kinda) and headed to the LACMA. To prepare for the long day ahead, I packed lots of water and wore an outfit fit for the heat. I wanted to wear my sheer kimono I got from Charming Charlie for a little sun coverage, so I paired it with a high neck tank from Urban. To top the look off, I wore one of my fav pairs of high-waisted shorts, also from Urban. We wandered around the LACMA and saw some really, really awesome pieces of art. It was definitely the definition of an ideal Saturday.

One of my favorite exhibits in the LACMA is the European Art section. I have never seen Claude Monet or Picasso in person, and my mind was blown at how exquisite some of the paintings I’ve admired from afar were in person. It really, really made me appreciate art, history, and creatives that much more. It makes me so happy to inspire people on a daily basis through fashion, and I hope to leave a my own mark like so many other creatives have in this world.

That’s enough inspirational talk for a Tuesday… Have a great rest of your night lovelies.

Love,
Lauren

Grey T-Shirt Dress

August 1, 2016

I’ve always loved the simplicity of dresses. You can effortlessly throw them on and look like a million bucks. You only have to pick out one piece of clothing then it’s onto accessories! What is more simple than that? One of my favorites for the summer and transitioning into fall is the t-shirt dress. I picked this one from Amour Vert for it’s simplicity and texture (this is quite possibly one of the softest dresses I own). For an evening stroll to dinner in SF, I paired it with my lace-ups and a Michael Kors bag from VogueTote. I usually don’t wear pink, even though I love the color for decor, but I thought this bag worked for a nice pop of color.

I definitely want to try different style variations of this dress. I’m looking for some cute nude mules (and have been for a while now) that would go with this dress. Does anyone have any suggestions? I know there are some cute ones like these at Nordstrom, but I’m just not sure!

Hope you all had a fantastic weekend 🙂

Love,
Lauren
