Best Kept Secrets in Napa

March 30, 2016

About two weeks ago, I had the pleasure of attending the Flavor! Napa Valley Festival, a week long festival in Napa with over forty events hosted by local wineries and caterers/restaurants. These events ranged from private wine tours, banquets, brunches, and much more. I attended two of the many events: a private Napa Valley wine tour and a brunch party. Both of these events were spectacular, especially the food- both on the wine tour and at the brunch party. But the wine tour was the event that stole my heart.

I’ll take you inside some of the best wineries I have ever been to…

1. Spring Mountain Vineyard: This place is magical. From the original old architecture to the abundance of plants engulfing the property, it really and truly was my favorite winery I have been to in Napa yet. Oh, and the wine is good too.

2. Rudd Oakville Estate: From the expansive fields of wine and crops to the underground cave, this winery will make you never want to leave. There was something new around every corner at this winery- when you think you have seen it all, you really haven’t. I suggest taking a tour downstairs to the private dining room underground if you can! Their Samantha’s Cabernet Sauvignon is incredible.

3. Nichelini Family Winery: This winery is very family driven, and very welcoming because of it. They have a great selection of red wines, be sure to try Red Reserve if you do a tasting here.

4. Goosecross Cellars: I will one hundred percent go back to this winery purely for the company. Our hosts were fantastic, primarily for their sense of humor. The back patio is a great place to do a tasting and there was a very accepting, laid back and young vibe at this winery. Also, their new 2013 Sauvignon Blanc is to die for.

If any of you have any recommendations for Napa I would love to hear them!

Definitely consider trying out these wineries next time you are in Napa.

Love,
Lauren

Distressed Overalls

March 29, 2016

If I had to pick one trend that most people say “I couldn’t pull that off” about, it would be overalls. But let me tell you this, you probably can, you just need to know what to wear them with and what style fits your shape. For example, if you are extremely tall, I wouldn’t recommend a skinny fit. And vice versa, if you are on the shorter side, I wouldn’t recommend a boyfriend fit. Other than that, there are many styles out there to choose from. One style that I like that works with any size is distressed overalls.

I paired my distressed pair (sold out at Zara, similar at Madewell) with a long sleeve top from J. Crew and my Converse that I have had since highschool. This created more of a laid-back vibe, but to dress overalls up, just throw on heels and add a nice bag!

To top off this look, I tied my hair into a quintessential girl bun (half-up with a top knot…pun intended). So let it be known that you CAN pull off overalls and a top knot if you wish, and don’t let anyone tell you differently.

Love,
Lauren

Babydoll Dress

March 27, 2016

Happy Easter Sunday everyone! I hope you are all spending the day with loved ones and family. I am laying by the pool at my friend’s house in Orange County, since I couldn’t make it back to Colorado to spend Easter with my family. For those of you who haven’t been here or to Laguna Beach, it’s amazing! The weather is incredible. Before I left, I was deciding what to pack, and chose some versatile pieces that could go from the beach to shopping.

One of the pieces I chose was a babydoll dress from THML Clothing that doubled as a top and cover-up at the beach. It took me from brunch at Zinc Cafe (they have locations in LA too!) to sunning at Monarch Bay to a sunset BBQ at my friend’s house in Orange County.

I am loving babydoll dresses and tops this season and for summer. One of the trends I have been loving for spring transition into summer is dresses over jeans, as seen at NYFW and on some celebs. Shop some similar babydoll dresses from THML Clothing below.

Happy Easter everyone!

Love,
Lauren

Drawstring Bucket Bag

March 23, 2016

In my opinion, if there is one bag that is a must-have this season, it is the drawstring bucket bag. For my last two posts, I have sported a bucket bag; one from Ashley Bridget and now one from Charming Charlie. They are great for every occasion, which is probably why I love them so much. And the drawstring feature is too cute. You can find them everywhere this spring, from Madewell (swoon) to Sole Society. I styled mine for a day of walking around the winery at The Meritage Resort and Spa this weekend with a dress over some jeans (another trend I am loving) and my go-to lace-up flats.

Like I mentioned previously, I usually don’t like that much of a color statement in my outfits (I gravitate towards the neutrals…) but, this mint color with the white is the perfect compliment to all the blush in my closet this season.

Also, I saved the most important for last! I am giving away one of these fabulous Charming Charlie bucket bags on my today! Enter over there 🙂

Even more Napa recaps headed to the blog soon, so stay tuned.

Love,
Lauren
