Bohemian by the Bay

A life + style guide for the modern bohemian woman

Archives for February 2016

The Bay at Sunset

February 29, 2016

When I say golden hour is my favorite hour to shoot, I mean it. And I know I’ve said that certain shoots are my favorite, but this really and truly has to be my favorite yet. I teamed up with , local architect and photographer in the city for a golden hour shoot that would leave others to shame.

Truth be told, I ran around shopping all day trying to pick up a piece that was casual yet memorable for this shoot. I have been drawn to lace up pieces lately- whether those be dresses, shoes, or in this case a blouse. I found the perfect one at H&M in one of my favorite colors. I paired the blouse with my go-to jeans and suede booties. The look was a little bohemian and a little edgy, making it right up my alley.

I love collaborating with local photographers and brands, and Charles Shelton Green has to be one of the most talented I have worked with! I look forward to many more collabs to come.

Love,
Lauren

Long Sleeve Romper

February 25, 2016

As spring rounds the corner, I have been inspired by all of the blooms that I am seeing around San Francisco. I do my best to capture them on my , but I wish there were more trees in the city so there could be more blooms! I have been so inspired that the color palettes for my outfits have taken on a bit of a spring feel, with blush, neutrals, and pastels interspersed throughout.

This past weekend, I went to a new brunch place with my friend Shikha of Shikha La Mode. We went to Lord George, a restaurant that just started serving brunch and ate our weight in Nutella French Toast. I highly recommend getting this dish if you go there. Here I go again, mixing my love of food with fashion… For this outing, I paired this Faux Fur Jacket from ASOS with a blush pink romper. Winter jackets can be good for spring too 🙂

I topped the look off with my blush lace-up flats. They were perfect for the occasion since I thought heels might have been a little riskay for a casual brunch.

There’s some exciting new stuff coming to the blog soon (I collaborated with another photographer!) yay! Stay tuned.

Love,
Lauren

Spring Transition Pieces

February 22, 2016

Lately, I have been pairing winter essentials, like this turtleneck with lighter jackets for spring. It’s getting nice in SF, meaning sixty degrees with a bit of windchill, so I like to bring out some fresh pieces for spring but still keep warm while I do so. With spring around the corner, I also have been leaning towards the lighter pastels (blush, light grey) paired with neutrals (camel, white). I love the results.

I snagged this jacket from Buffalo Exchange, one of my favorite resale boutiques in the city. I also shopped here when I lived in Colorado, so they have them all over! I highly recommend selling clothes there if you are looking for a little extra cash or for some unique thrifted finds. I paired it with this Rose Quartz Necklace from Chainless Brain, a high end jewelry retailer with some very interesting pieces. Check ’em out!

I also did three shoots this weekend, so be excited for some fun posts to come 🙂

Love,
Lauren

Button-up Skirt

February 18, 2016

LA makes me do crazy things. It makes me dress more edgy, buy more experimental pieces, and generally be more eclectic. All of the things that I secretly wish I could be in San Francisco, like more modern hipster and less city-chic, I can be in LA. So it really works out that I can be in both places quite often and helps to define my style as quintessentially bohemian-chic.

For a day of eating brunch at Blu Jam Cafe and exploring around Melrose, I chose to pair my new corduroy button-up skirt with a varsity tee (similar here) from Madewell. To top off the look, my boho necklace fit perfectly with the vibe of my outfit.

It was eighty degrees that day in LA- I couldn’t even stand outside in the shade to wait for brunch! Crazy how nice it is here in the winter… Anywhere else I go is frigid. And that’s how I know I’m becoming a Californian.

Love,
Lauren
