Bohemian by the Bay

A life + style guide for the modern bohemian woman

Archives for July 2015

Sittin’ on the Dock of the Bay

July 26, 2015

Despite the mediocre weather yesterday, my friend Melanie and I walked down to Fort Mason for a shoot after hitting our favorite acai bowl joint, Basik Cafe. Little did I know, Fort Mason is bustling with some really cute hidden restaurants, right near the bay. One such we walked by that I can’t wait to try is Green Restaurant, with buttermilk biscuits, pancakes, pupusas, scrambles and hummus platters all on the menu. There I go talking about my love of food again…

Ever since I purchased these linen pants from GAP about a week ago, I have lived in them. They are the perfect transition from work to play, and they even can work in corporate workplaces! I dressed them up a tad bit with black strap heels, but before I did so, I tried them on with booties and sandals and both styles looked equally as cute.

I am beginning to transition from buying trendy, wear-one-time pieces to classic, wear-until-they-fall-apart staple pieces; even if they are more expensive. Here are 5 reasons you should splurge on staple pieces:

1. They last longer (high quality)

2. You save money in the long term (they don’t go out of style)

3. You have less clutter in your closet (from all those trendy pieces)

4. They easily transition from work to play (think: LDB)

5. You are helping the economy (money is just money, right?)

My next “splurge”: Madewell Tote.

What I’m Wearing:
“Late Nights & Whiskey” Tank: Top Knot Goods
Jogger Pants: GAP
Black Heels: H&M
Jewelry: Rocksbox
Hat: Thrifted at Melrose Trading Post

New content awaits soon <3

Love you all,
BB xx

Saturday at the Farmer’s Market

July 19, 2015

There seems to be an ongoing theme here on my blog including shopping at farmer’s markets and Saturday’s… At least you all know how I like to spend weekends! This weekend was absolutely gorgeous in SF. I don’t know if I am speaking too soon, but it seems like June/July gloom is finally over. The weather was perfect for the farmer’s market held at the Embarcadero (every Saturday) and I have been dying to wear my overalls since bought them last week at Zara, so I went for it. I went for some of the goodies pictured below as well…

After posting this on my , a lot of people said that they could never pull off overalls, and I have to tell you I was a little hesitant myself. But you just have to go for it! That is one of my mottos in style and in life: if are attracted to something, go for it!

What I’m Wearing:
Overalls: Zara
Shoes: Toms
Jewelry: Rocksbox

Remember you can use the code laurendaileyxoxo to receive your first month of Rocksbox for free!

I’m headed to LA for work for the next few days, so follow along on my for behind the scenes happenings.

Much love,
BB xx

A Country Club Wedding

July 12, 2015

Yesterday was magical. I had the pleasure of watching my cousin get married at the first wedding I have attended since I was a flower girl at age four. The wedding was set at the Colorado National Golf Club in Eerie, Colorado. With the Rocky Mountains as a backdrop, live acoustic music, string lights, and grassy fields as far as the eye could see, I was in heaven. The color scheme of the wedding was all colors of blue- light, navy, cobalt, sea-foam… I was unaware of the color scheme when I picked out my dress from Banana Republic (the night before shhhh) but it ended up being perfect for the occasion.

I picked this structured A-line dress because it was simple, not too flashy, and most of all I can wear it to other occasions (work!). I paired the dress with black suede heels, another staple piece everyone should have in their closet. I finished the look with an edgy statement necklace that was a hand-me-down from my mom- I always have to add some edge to an overly girly outfit.

…And then my cousin got married and I danced the night away!

What I’m Wearing:
Blue dress: Banana Republic
Black suede heels: H&M
Necklace: Francesca’s Collection (in stores only)
Patent leather purse: Thrifted

On a side note, I am re-selling some of my clothes on Threadflip soon, so be sure to keep an eye on my closet there!

Love is in the air,
BB xoxo

Bohemian by the Bay x Lauren O’Neil

July 9, 2015

About a week ago, I had the pleasure to work with Lauren O’Neil, a photographer and graphic designer from Boston. It was a great weekend in the city celebrating pride fest, so we decided to shoot in Mission District, a neighborhood known for it’s eclectic vibe, vintage boutiques and hipsters in Dolores Park. Admittedly having my hipster moments, I wanted to play along with the vibe. Lauren made everything look better than I thought because she has a killer eye for detail. Check out more of her work on her website: LO and .

To get the street-style vibe, I wore an oversized vintage sheer button down with some of my quintessential gold bohemian jewelry. I paired this outfit with my ripped jeans that are getting more use than ever this season!

What I’m Wearing:
White Sheer Tee: Thrifted from Crossroads
Necklace: All That Jazz
Rings: Assorted (Madewell, Rocksbox)
Jeans: Bullhead
Boots: Sam Edelman

Been super busy lately traveling every weekend, so expect a post next week around this time! I’m headed back to Colorado again for my cousin’s wedding this weekend 🙂

Stay tuned,
BB xx
