Bluxome Street Winery

March 29, 2015

Yesterday was a great Sunday. I shot my first piece for City Scout, a website dedicated to curating the best of what Sacramento (and soon SF) has to offer. I attended a small gathering at Bluxome Street Winery in SOMA. The event was a sensory experience tasting, meaning I got to eat, smell and feel along with tasting wine… I was totally about it. I hope you guys like the piece, I’ll be sure to post on my Instagram when it’s up!

On another note related to my blog, I decided to wear a nicer dress from Forever21 for the tasting. Bluxome Street has a sort of upscale yet relaxed vibe to it, so I felt like this was a good choice given the occasion. To make the look a little more relaxed, I paired the dress with my suede lace-up wedges and some sunnies (although I didn’t need them inside the event space). Stay tuned via my Instagram (I’m not big enough for a snapchat yet)!

What I’m Wearing:
White and Black Dress: Forever21
Wedges: MIA
Rings: Various (mostly from street markets in Brooklyn)
Bracelet: Express

Hope your weekend was lovely,
BB xx

Los Angeles Livin’

March 17, 2015

I spent last weekend in LA. It was about 90 degrees there, and I was not prepared for that type of heat. Nonetheless, the flowers were blooming and the city was bustling like always. Jack and I escaped to the town of Los Feliz, a little north of the city. It was an interesting and artsy neighborhood, and had all the necessities (cafes and thriftshops). We stopped for lunch at Alcove Cafe, which was incredible. If you get a chance, don’t just go there, run there. I mean, that’s how good it was. There is a wrap around balcony, home brewed coffee, and pastries the size of my face. Need I say more.

My choice of clothing for this day was a little fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants because I had originally planned to wear button-up high-waisted shorts, but I lost them in the rush of packing. So, I wore jeans, and to my dismay it was 90 degrees out. You win some, you lose some. I paired the jeans with my favorite pineapple blouse, which I got at Buffalo Exchange in Colorado and I cannot figure out for the life of me where it is originally from. So if you want one similar, fly to Colorado and go to Buffalo Exchange in Boulder! (Just kidding)

What I’m Wearing:
Pineapple Blouse: see above
Skinny Jeans: Forever21
Sunglasses: H&M
Booties: Sam Edelman
Hat: Forever21

Love,
BB

Spring Fever in Green Valley

March 10, 2015

So I just got back from a much needed relaxing weekend at my grandparent’s retirement resort community in Green Valley, Arizona (outside of Tucson if you don’t know where that is). I love to do a shoot at my weekend get-a-ways so it gives you all an insight into what I do in my free time. I rendezvoused with my parents here, so I spent the weekend catching up on life with my family. Talk about therapy 🙂

Their resort community has just about everything under the sun when it comes to activities- golfing (duh), tennis, swimming, an “Arts & Tech” building (so cute right?), and much more. It was about eighty degrees there, so everyone went about their routines and scooted around town in their golf carts. For this weather, I chose a lose fitted maxi dress (those are still cool I hope) to keep myself cool and some strappy sandals I bought at a thrift store way back when. I hope this gives everyone on the East Coast some hope for spring to come soon! Snow snow go away…

What I’m Wearing:
Maxi Dress: Forever21
Military Green Button-down: Ecote (Urban Outfitters)
Sandals: Thrifted
Ring: Madewell

I’m going somewhere next weekend, too! Big surprise, right? Stay tuned.

So much love for all of you,
Lauren

New Age Hippie

March 2, 2015

This post was shot on Fillmore Street, a street I love to come to shoot. It’s filled with upscale shops- think Alice + Olivia, Marc Jacobs, and Rag + Bone. I like to think I can afford these shops while strolling down the sidewalk window peeping in my thrifted denim. Nonetheless, it’s a chic spot with tons of good food. Jack and I went to Tacobar, which I highly recommend for cheap, locally caught fresh fish tacos. The shrimp was to die for! Check my  for some up close and personal shots of the tacos. You won’t be disappointed.

I’m beginning to wonder whether my blog is becoming less and less about fashion and more about food and the places I explore… I’m thinking of turning it into a lifestyle blog? Anyway, I paired this thrifted denim button down dress with my favorite suede Madewell heels and a thrifted camel jacket. Neutrals are SO in these days, so get on the neutrals train if you haven’t already! You can easily spice things up with a pop of color or an interesting material like I did here with denim.

What I’m Wearing:
Denim dress: thrifted
Camel jacket: Staccato
Shoes: Madewell
Sunnies: Ray Ban
Purse: The Limited

Mucho love,
BB xx
